Economic Development
The SBLGA's Economic Development Office was established in 1998. The position is jointly funded by the South Burnett Local Government Association and the Queensland Department of State Development. It exists to further economic development across all the South Burnett's six shires and the Cherbourg Community Council. For businesses or industries considering locating, diversifying or expanding into the South Burnett, the region already offers a number of outstanding competitive advantages. These include:
The Economic Development Office also helps to identify opportunities for existing businesses located within the South Burnett. This can include helping local businesses obtain funding for new ventures; helping them overcome development obstacles; introducing them to potential joint venture partners; providing access to appropriate training and resources; and helping to identify new and profitable markets for their products or services.
The Economic Development Office operates from premises made available by Murgon Shire Council. You can contact Paul Marek any Monday to Friday between 8:30am and 5:00pm at his office or via mail, phone, fax or email:
